Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a gentle technique in which specific points on the body are stimulated by using thin sterile needles. Acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment for many disorders including (but not limited to) allergies, depression, painful periods, headaches/migraines, pain, colds and flu, and injuries.  Initial treatments last about an hour and follow up treatments are 20-45 minutes.

Electro-Acupuncture

Electro-Acupunture uses small electrodes on the acupuncture needles to stimulate blood flow and qi flow. Initial treatments last about an hour and follow up treatments are 15-45 minutes.

Cupping/Guasha

Cupping Therapy is a technique where glass cups are placed over various body parts and the skin is sucked into the cup by heating the cup with fire to reduce air pressure. Cupping is used to draw out toxins, reduce pain and inflammation, increase circulation, boost the immune system, clear phlegm and promote healthy movement of energy or “Qi” in the body. A method known as sliding cupping is used to incorporate the benefits of stationary cupping with deep tissue massage to release tight muscles and trigger points.

Gua Sha is a type of scraping therapy that is used to release the muscle layer under the surface of the skin in acute and chronic disorders. This technique can be used to prevent and treat common colds and flus, respiratory disorders and many types of pain. Gua Sha increases circulation, releases tight muscles, vents heat from the body and stimulates the immune system. The scraping is typically done with a ceramic spoon, a flat piece of jade or water buffalo horn.

AromaAcu Point Therapy

Aroma Acupoint Therapy (or AAT) is an innovative, gentle, hands on treatment that combines the potency of essential oils with acupuncture. AAT uses essential oils that accurately match specific acupuncture points allowing for transformative results.

Authentic medicinal quality essential oils are highly vibrational in nature. They are useful for moving qi, nourishing the organs, balancing hormones, shifting moods and emotions, and creating higher states of consciousness. They act medicinally by stimulating the olfactory nerves, reaching the limbic part of the brain. The oils then travel to the hypothalamus and endocrine system, thereby stimulating neuro-hormonal responses.

AAT involves applying essential oils to acupuncture points and holding them on the points until the desired shift is observed. Many different oils and points may be used in a single session. This is a pleasant, relaxing experience for the patient who simply rests quietly while the oils are applied. This therapy can be used alone or prior to the insertion of acupuncture needles.

AAT is especially useful in treating fatigue (both chronic and acute), adrenal dysregulation and adrenal fatigue, tension, racing mind, PMS symptoms, and emotional conditions including depression, lack of motivation, and anxiety. AAT similarly does well to support acupuncture in treating the wide breadth of conditions known to respond well to traditional treatment.

While AAT benefits all kinds of patients, those with needle sensitivities and phobias as well as children respond especially well to AAT.

Herbal Consultations

Initial visits begin with a review of the detailed intake form you filled out prior to your visit. Together we will look at your health history, dietary and lifestyle practices, overall constitution and any other factors that are related to the reason for the consultation. With your full involvement we will develop an integrated wellness program that will support your needs. We will look at your situation from a place of whole person instead of dealing with just the presenting symptoms. Plan on 1 hour for your initial visit and up to 30 minutes for follow up visits.

Herbal recommendations may involve various options depending on your personal needs. These may include herbal nutrition, teas, tinctures, poultices, herbal baths, salves, creams or essential oils. Adina may also recommend additional treatment including, Acupuncture, Ayurveda, lifestyle counseling and body work.  The primary goal of the consultation is to help you find a path that will work for you in your situation. After an initial visit we will look at what support you might need to accomplish your goals and set up subsequent visits if they are needed.

Adina uses high quality herbal companies including Standard Process, Kan Herbs, Blue Poppy, Wei Labs and Pacific Herbs.
